Black Pearl ruined by Jewelry Cleaner

Years ago, my boyfriend was cleaning my jewelry and submerged my black pearl ring into jewelry cleaner. The pearl has been ruined ever since. Is there a way to restore or repair it? I have no idea whether it is a natural or cultured pearl... Honestly, I don't know much about them. Any help would be appreciated. :)
