Good afternoon and thank you for writing in! I don't think right or left facing will increase the value but what I find extraordinary is WHY the craftsman chose to back face the subject.
Cameo artist was working with the colour of the natural shell material for best effect. The orientation of subject was to utilise the darker natural colours in the shell. Notice the depth and interest in the hair now, for example. It is clear that this cameo carver had practical experience and knowledge working cameo into shell and this would be reflected in the Cameo value.
