Arrows and animal | 9 ct Gold Ring

I have a ring i bought on ebay, it looks like 9ct gold and is hollow and holding a water/jelly opal in high set claws. I looked closely with a jewelers loupe and it looks to have a mark, like an animal bear/lamb (full body) with two arrows heads on either side pointing to it. They are not scratches as they are too deep and perfect. What could that be?
