Possibly Chinese Freshwater Soufflé Pearls - Real by: Yvonne
Good Morning Linda, I'm thinking, they could be the chinese cultured freshwater pearl variety, known as "soufflé pearls" - which are quite pricey considering they have "pond-muck" dried into spherical shapes, that's used for nucleation.
Cultured Freshwater Pearls are "Pearls" in the real sense, they are not simulated pearls, but in the strict sense, they are not "real" pearls as in Natural Pearls.
These cultured freshwater pearls are large pearls. You didn't mention the size, but looking at the size in comparison to the clasp in the photo, and the shape and color, this type of freshwater pearl came to mind. Soufflés display a wide variety of beautiful colors and range in size from 13 to 20 millimeters, on a comparable size to Australian South Sea Pearls.
