Aging a Cameo Beauty! by:
i am still learning about how to age a cameo but i have been collecting cameos for about 6 years and your cameo with the detail of the lady is worth around $200.00 in my estimation, and it depends what the metal the setting is. It looks sterling to me and with the detail of the setting add another $100.
I have a cameo my great grandmother gave me and it is over a 100 years old and it had 14kt yellow gold and white gold filigree setting and the cameo is much bigger and i had it priced at $500.00

The silver setting was clearly added later, it's not original. The original setting is the twisted gold right next to the cameo. It looks like solid gold, I don't see any wear on the high points that would indicate gold filled or plated.
I got confirmation from my mother that it belonged to my great-grandmother, who was born in 1882. We found a photo of her wearing it. I believe it was probably given to her by her husband, who died in 1908. That would make it about 100 years old. After he died the family was essentially impoverished, so she would not have had the money to buy a piece of jewelry such as this.

antique cameo pendant by: Anonymous
What a beautiful shell cameo. It doesn't look like an antique cameo. The features of the lady in the carving, especial her up-turned nose, indicates a more recent cameo, and is in keeping with the time-frame of the silver setting.
