Antique Diamond Ring Red Bead. Hidden treasure?

I received an antique ring for my engagement. Upon further inspection I noticed a tiny red bead inside the setting of one of the diamonds. A jeweler told me the only way for it to be removed is to remove the diamond. It was placed intentionally. Is there a meaning behind doing this?
