The crescent moon addition which is set with diamonds (melee diamonds most likely - (less than 0.2 carats in weight) ) looks like a later development, possibly in an effort to increase the price of the cameo and to catapult her loveliness into Greek goddess Diana stature - comparitatively speaking a rather poorly carved cameo.
