Hi Clifford, thank you for the following hallmark question:
"I have a ring with an indented hallmark which amounts to a picture of an anchor and the letter K. I have seen these before but I can never get them straight. If I remember correctly there is also a star with a K, the third mark escapes me. They are not the standard British hallmarks (anchor indicating Birmingham). I believe they have a direct correlation to 10k, 14k and 18k. An acid test is inconclusive, I think it is 10k, but it could be a weak 14k."
Clifford, there are many anchor marks, not just the Birmingham assay marks. OK. an Anchor and the Letter K on what you think is a 10k Gold Ring? Quite possibly Ripley-Howland MFG Co. (on 10K Gold Rings, Manufacturing Jewelers, Boston, MA, and New York, NY, USA) - ca 1887 - 1912
