Hey there..i have the piece.. The stones around it are black like onyx but I'm sure they are not real.. The cameo its self is a gold color.. The head in the middle is a brown color and its been placed on a different style of stone that's also brown.. I honestly know anything about this piece but would love to find out every detail I can possible.. Dates, origins, anything. Thank you !!

Many surfaces were used including Amber for Cameo Jewelry by: Anonymous
Hi Cheryl
I shall get the ball rolling here... lovely to see your beautiful cameo of what apears to be a child's face in profile? Do you know what the stones are that are set around the cameo's mounting? And the color? They look very dark but it could be just the angle at which the photo was taken.
Although shell is best known, Cameos have been made from a variety of surfaces but gemstone, lava, bone and later plastic cameos are common. Ivory, coral, rubber (gutta-percha), whitby jet, wax and AMBER were also used. Josiah Wedgwood's Jasperware is a type of cameo. Whitby Jet was used a lot for Mourning Jewelry.
