There's a lot of confusion about Lancaster Watch Company, mainly because we have Italy, Holland, Switzerland and Lancaster, ( UK ) sometimes incorrectly mixed with Lancaster Pennsylvania all within the institutional profile mix.
the founder, was in fact the great Dutch, astronomer, Christiaan Huygens, the inventor of the application of the balance wheel to the timepiece in the mid-1600s. Huygens, was forced to move to tolerant Switzerland in the mid 16 hundreds for religious reasons.
no surprise to see the sun, moon and stars hall marks on this timepiece. Any chance of a photo?
