Hi thanks for writing in. 18 kt is the common control mark for gold jewelry made in Italy,
I thought it might have been a Spanish mark at first, before I noticed - "marked ITALY" - the spanish assay office is signified by the number 1 and V is for Valencia
however the earrings are obviously Italian - VI is the Italian province of Vicenza - the number will most probably be the assigned number of the registered Italian smith.
We would need to see an image of the L in a plaque to give an opinion.
