Hi sounds quite complex. There are three sets of initials, and if it's a signet ring, one of initials could be the engraved initials of the owner. Without seeing the mark, we have no way of knowing, the sponsor's mark could be anyone of the following:

1. AR
2. JPL
3. K back-to-front

The compartment, indicates this is a "poison ring" - no it wasn't literally used to store Poison, usually a memento of a loved such as lock of hair, and after Louis Daguerre, invented the first modern process of photography in 1829, a photographic image.

Compartment rings might also have been used to hold perfume.

Without seeing the marks it's hard to tell.

If it is marked 22, It sounds like it's high quality gold.
