Hi Marte That's a shame...sounds like the cleaner was meant for gold jewelry and not for silver or all jewelry? Have you cleaned both metals in the same solution? If so, the silver tarnish ions gravitate to gold and it would darken areas. It sounds like the cleaning fluid was contaminated some how. If this is the case, you will need to take it to a jewelry store and have them clean it for you. I don't believe it is permanent though. Remember to keep two different soltions, a cleaning solution for silver jewelry and one for gold.
